Making Ex-Girlfriend pay part of lease after she moved out?

My now Ex-Girlfriend just recently moved out of the duplex that me and her were going to rent, her name is on the lease, I am the main person on the lease since I put down the deposit, if I make an ex-girlfriend pay half the lease, taking her to court, would it ruin all chances to be with her in the future if she had in mind a second chance later on?
Answers:
LOL...I would imagine so.
Short answer? Yes. Find a more responsible girl.
Are you kidding me? If you're living there, what difference does it make?

If you didn't move in and stopped paying rent, then the landlord would sue both of you.

As far as ruining chances to be with her in the future, well nothing burns bridges like lawsuits.
She is just as responsible for paying that rent as you are. Her name is on the lease. I am pretty sure, if you pursue this she won't want to date you anymore.
Yes it would, but there must be reasons she is an ex and not a current girlfriend.

People who sign contracts, and she did by putting her name on the lease, need to live up to the responsibility.
Her name is on the lease,, she is responsible for her part of the bill. If you are just worried if she'll go back out with you then don't fuss about the bill...pay it all..but by law, she would have to pay...
Suck it up and drive on.Next time, look deep before you start playing house.
Yeah, it would definitely ruin your chances for getting her back. Just be a man and pay the money. Stay in the duplex and make it a great place for you to be, even if you're by yourself.
Part one. Make her pay. Part two. Depends on how much of a horndog she is.
In order to make her pay part of the rent, you have to show that you have tried to mitigate your damages (lessen them) by trying to find another roommate, subletting the apartment, etc. If you have one year left on a one year lease, she would never be responsible to pay half for that entire year. You might get her half for two or three months, that's it. After that, you're on your own to pay the full amount. You have to put ads in the paper, on bulletin boards, etc to make a good faith effort to replace her half of the rent.

As far as getting her back, suing her definitely wouldn't do it. Try conning her into being roommates, instead of shacker-uppers, then you would have her in your house to work on her. Be smart, instead of right.
By entering this contract you two agreed to ensure the rent was paid in full. It was a contract between not between you and her, but was basiclly a contract between the landlord and each of you, and not you jointly. This means that if she doesn't pay the rent you agreed to do it yourslef, or if you don't pay that she agreed to pay. In either case though the contract is not between you and her to pay half, and thus most states there's nothing you can do. In those that you could possibly claim that she had to pay half, you'd have to show how you tried to mitigate the loss (ie post ads for roommate, try and get someone to move in) otherwise she won't owe anything since you didn't try to mitigate the loss.
